Thomas Wilmer

Wilmer started his journalism career as a copy boy for the Wall Street Journal. He has served as travel editor and columnist for numerous newspapers and lifestyle magazines, including Tahoe Quarterly, Central Coast Magazine, and travel editor at Las Vegas Magazine for five years.

He has also served as travel correspondent on-air host for Cal Central Coast NPR affiliates KCXB, KSBX & KNBX for 25 years. Since 2012 he's hosted the NPR Podcast Show, “Journeys of Discovery with Tom Wilmer”—the recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Lowell Thomas Award in 2013 and 2015 bestowed by the Society of American Travel Writers. The author of three books, he’s at work on a fourth, and serves as Vice-President of the San Francisco based, Bay Area Travel Writers group.
