Barbara Steinberg's professional travel writing and editing career began in 1990 with Visit California as publications director for the California Official State Visitor’s Guide & Travel Planner, California Official State Map, and VisitCalifornia.com website.
Wilmer started his journalism career as a copy boy for the Wall Street Journal. He has served as travel editor and columnist for numerous newspapers and lifestyle magazines, including Tahoe Quarterly, Central Coast Magazine, and travel editor at Las Vegas Magazine for five years.
Meade Fischer, an OWAC board member and former president, is also a member of Bay Area Travel Writers. A former teacher, he now works as a freelance outdoor writer as well as a book author—9 self-published, both fiction and outdoor-related non-fiction.
A freelance writer/photographer, Peter Schroeder specializes in recreational boating, cruising under sail, snow skiing, scuba diving, cycling, and worldwide adventure travel.
Lara Kaylor has worked as a journalist for more than a decade covering everything from the outdoors to small town politics. She joined OWAC in 2007. These days Lara works at Mammoth Lakes Tourism as the Director of Communications.
Pat Young, 64, is the newest member of the OWAC Board of Directors. Pat was born and raised in Los Angeles and headed north to attend Cal Poly-SLO where he received his BS in Animal Science and a Secondary Teaching Credential in Agricultural Science.
