OWAC Spring Conference
Sonoma County, California
May 15-17, 2005

Sonoma County Vineyards (photo taken by MJ Wickham)The Outdoor Writers Association of California's 2005 Spring Conference will take place in one of Sonoma County’s extraordinary regions: The Sea Ranch. Just 100 miles north of the Golden Gate bridge (about a 2 ½ hour drive), this stunning, secluded, coastal community extends about ten miles through Sonoma County’s northwestern reaches. Among the many activities are river and ocean fishing, tidepooling, hiking, biking, beach exploration, canoeing, kayaking, a championship golf course, art tours, bird watching, horseback riding and much more.

Driving through The Sea Ranch, what one notices is an abundance of natural beauty and an architectural standard that is world-renowned. Its trademark is the ability to blend man-made structures with the natural setting, and to live lightly on the land. OWAC conference attendees will have the unique privilege of staying in deluxe vacation homes located along the spectacular coastline in The Sea Ranch.

Sonoma County Coast (photo taken by Susan and Neil Silverman)Other areas of Sonoma County will be providing post-trips for OWAC members, including the Russian River area, Bodega Bay/Jenner, Cloverdale, Petaluma, Occidental/Sebastopol and Sonoma. Stay tuned to this Web site for further details as planning continues!

Sonoma County, in the heart of Wine Country, is a year-round getaway that combines the finest wine, dining, lodging, outdoor recreation, cultural arts, and much more. It’s also known for its ideal climate, rolling hills, vineyards, redwoods, the Russian River and spectacular Pacific coastline. Sonoma County understands that the land is its livelihood, and heartily embraces ecological responsibility. But perhaps what most sets it apart, is its ability to combine the refined things in life with those at their most unassuming.
