OWAC Spring Conference
Tenaya Lodge in Southern Yosemite
June 6-8, 2004

Fishing Mountain Biking

If we told you we knew of the perfect place where you could hike to a waterfall, saddle up a horse for a scenic ride through high mountain meadows, toss a fly line into a river of white riffles for wild trout, play a glorious round of golf, flip a spinner bait into a lake full of big hungry bass, ride a mountain bike through a grove of giant Sequoias, and then top it all off with a swim, Jacuzzi, steam, sauna, massage, or spa treatment … would you be interested? If so, mark your calendars for June 6th through 8th and plan to join us for our Spring 2004 OWAC Conference at the Tenaya Lodge in southern Yosemite.

Host Catherine Boire from Delaware North Companies Parks and Resorts (DNCPR) at Tenaya, together with the Mariposa County and Yosemite Sierra visitors bureaus, have an action-packed itinerary planned. We will all be staying at the deluxe Tenaya Lodge (www.tenayalodge.com), a world-class resort property set on 35 acres bordering the Sierra Nevada National Forest and two miles from the south entrance to Yosemite National Park.

Our annual Spring Conference also features OWAC’s prestigious and ever-popular awards program, where some of the best writers, photographers, radio, video, and TV communicators in the west are recognized and celebrated by their peers. In addition, we’re very lucky to have national award-winning photographer Chase Swift of Colorado leading our Sunday afternoon craft improvement workshop, and new Department of Fish and Game Director, Ryan Broddrick, as our newsmaker speaker.

Anticipate stunning spring scenery, compelling recreational activities, unique post-tour options, and sensational meals, plus the warm and friendly hospitality that you have come to know from past conferences at the DNC-operated Asilomar and Sequoia National Park. Plans include a nighttime flashlight tour and barbecue dinner after a ride on the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, plus your choice from the many events listed above. Registration packets have been mailed, the registration deadline is Friday, May 14, and further information will be available on this Web site. For questions, contact Catherine Boire, Public Relations Representative, at (707) 255-5997 or cboirepr@aol.com. Or, contact Carrie Wilson at (831) 649-7191 or by email at cwilson@dfg.ca.gov.

Please mark your calendars and plan to join us June 6th through 8th. This is sure to be one of our best OWAC conferences ever, and in the High Sierra to boot!
