Current issue available by mail and web Highway 20 near Williams, California. This is the "Original Wild Turkey Expo". The seminar will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2012 starting at 10 a.m. The seminar is free and open to the public. It’s all part of W.U.’s ongoing hunter education program.
The seminar will be co-hosted by Terry Knight and Ryan Mathis. Both are experienced turkey hunters and also give hunting seminars around the state. Everything there is to know (A-Z) about wild turkey hunting will be discussed in this student friendly environment. Topics to be covered include: turkey habits, calls, how to call, shotguns, ammo, patterning your gun, camo, blinds, archery, hunting on public land and will include cleaning and cooking.
Wilderness Unlimited is California’s largest manager of private ranches, offering over 25 different ranches for turkey hunting. However, extensive attention will be given to locating birds on public lands including F&G managed wildlife areas and BLM lands.
The seminar is free. A hot lunch will be served, courtesy of the non-profit, Wilderness Unlimited Foundation (WUF). A $10 lunch donation is suggested. ($8 for youth)
To reach the W.U. Sacramento Valley RV Camp take I-5 north from Sacramento to Williams, turn east on Highway 20. The camp is one mile from I-5. For those coming from the Redding area take I-5 south to Highway 20 and turn east.
