Jerry Springer, New president of California Deer Association

Jerry Springer has been elected to serve as president of the California Deer Association (CDA).  Springer brings his knowledge and skills as a hunter, editor/publisher, outdoor writer and photographer, as well as years of experience in the information technology field, to California’s leading organization in the conservation of California’s deer herds and other wildlife.

CDA was formed in 1996 and since that time has contributed $4,000,000 for projects in the areas of habitat, research and education to better protect deer herds and other wildlife in the state.

Springer becomes CDA’s sixth president, following the tenure of Matt Rogers.

Springer has served as a CDA Board member and editor of the member magazine, California Deer. He is also a member of the NRA, OWAC, POMA and past Board member of the Sacramento Safari Club. He is an active member of the California Fish and Game Commission’s Al Taucher Preserving Hunting & Fishing Committee. Springer was also the editor/publisher of California Hunter Magazine.

Springer is responsible for creating CDA’s Sharing the Tradition program, which to date has provided the opportunity for more than 150 juniors to experience deer hunting on California’s famous Tejon Ranch.

As Springer takes over his new responsibilities he states, “I am excited about CDA and the great position it finds itself in to expand the efforts to protect the deer herds of California using biological knowledge, and the opportunity to work with agencies like the Department of Fish and Game, U.S. Forest Service, BLM, and private landowners.”
