APRIL 13 -- Whether it's big game, upland game or waterfowl, California
hunters can read all about it in DFG's new publication, the California
Hunting Digest. The DFG Office of Communications, Education & Outreach
has combined Tracks, Wing Beat News- Region 2, Wing Beat
News -Region 4, and Big Game Hunting into one quarterly magazine that
is distributed statewide and mailed upon request to hunters,
free of charge.
Now, instead of printing several different magazines, and maintaining
separate mailing lists, the DFG is publishing the California
Hunting Digest and delivering the sought-after information that only DFG
can provide. The Digest will carry on the proud tradition of serving
our hunting community by providing regulation summaries, hunt seasons,
drawing-only hunt information, public hunting opportunities, maps,
species forecasts, and much more, all with a similar look and distribution
as previous publications for easy recognition. In short, it provides "one
stop shopping" for hunters who want to know what, where, and
when to hunt upland game, waterfowl and big game in California
and who are used to getting quality service and comprehensive information
from DFG.
The following annual publication schedule has been established
for the Digest:
* February: Upland Game, which will focus on spring turkey season
and contain a list of every "huntable" and "fishable" wildlife
area and ecological reserve;
* April: Big Game, which will include hunt applications ;
* August: Upland Game, which will include the schedule for special
dove, wild turkey, pheasant and quail hunts; and
* October: Waterfowl, which will include instructions for hunting
on state and federal areas.
The April 2007, issue of the California Hunting Digest is hot
off the presses and will be arriving at all DFG offices and license
agents within the next two weeks. It can now be viewed at http://www.dfg.ca.gov/licensing/biggame/biggamebook.html.
