Camanche Cast and Blast
__________________________________________________________________________________________
The California Parks Companies has organized a Cast and Blast
to Lake Camanche following the Fall OWAC conference. Camanche’s “itinerant
itinerary” describes the event as ideal for stalwart outdoorsmen
and women who wish to demonstrate their prowess at fishin’ ‘n’ shootin’.
It all begins Oct. 9 following the final Fall Conference breakfast.
After a short drive from Calaveras County, OWACers will arrive “in
the wilds of Lake Camanche” to check into their rooms (limited
to 15), have lunch and then head for an afternoon of shootin’ clays,
then back to Lake Camanche to brush off the gunpowder before a “refined
dinner” at La Bella Rosa in Ione.
The following day (Oct. 10), the group is up early for hot coffee
and breakfast at the North Shore Restaurant, then out on the lake
to find legendary holes with some of the lake’s most knowledgeable
anglers, back to the North Shore for lunch, followed by an afternoon
of pheasant and duck huntin’ at Camanche Hills Hunting Preserve,
ending that evening at a BBQ with participating writers “tellin’ tall
tales about the critters that escaped their awesome outdoorsman
skills.”
Oct. 11 is a wakeup and return home. This post trip is limited
to 15 rooms, though writers with RVs may camp along the North Shore
(self-contained). Questions about the Camanche Cast and Blast can
