THE 20th ANNUAL MAMMOTH LAKES JAZZ JUBILEE
The popular Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee reaches a milestone in 2008 with the 20th staging of the event. The first Jazz Jubilee in 1989 cost $2 per person, lasted for five hours and attracted four hundred people. From those humble beginnings this celebration of all things jazz has grown to five days and now attracts more than thirty thousand enthusiastic spectators.
The setting for the Jubilee is spectacular. Nestled in and among the tall pines, music lovers can experience the sounds of swing, big band, Cajun, Dixieland, straight ahead jazz and more. Because this is the 20th Jubilee attendees can expect big happenings, including a musician’s parade along Main Street on Friday July 11th.
At least ten venues, mostly located outdoors to enjoy the fine summer breezes, will be located all over the small mountain town of Mammoth Lakes. Free transportation is provided between venues. Mammoth is known for its great skiing and other winter activities, but becomes a "mountain of music" during the summer. This is “Jazz with altitude!”
Jazz Jubilee runs from July 9 to 13, 2008. For more information e-mail Ken or Flossie Coulter on mljj@qnet.com or call 877-Mtn-Jazz (877-686-5299)
