Richard Arrowood, Michael Mondavi and I would like you to meet Kim Rhode, one of our nation’s premier Olympic athletes.  We are hosting a reception for Kim, a three-time Olympic medalist in competitive shooting, on Friday, September 21, 2007 from 6-8 pm at the Folio Winemakers’ Studio (www.foliowine.com), 1285 Dealy Lane in Napa.

 

Kim is one of the most accomplished female sport shooters in the world and the most decorated female Olympian in the history of USA Shooting.  She won her first national title at 13 and was only 17, the youngest member of the USA Shooting team when she won her first Olympic gold medal in double trap in 1996.  She brought home the bronze in 2000 and another Olympic gold from the 2004 Athens games.

 

As you know, Olympic athletes must finance their own training and cover all their expenses associated with qualifying for the U.S. Olympic team.  Competition at this level is a full time job.  In addition Kim is in college studying to become a veterinarian.  Therefore, she must rely on the generosity of the American public to help her reach her goals.  As Kim prepares to represent the United States in the 2008 Olympics in China, Richard, Michael and I want to make sure she has the financial resources she needs to get the job done.

 

Whether you are a competitive shooter, a hunter, a gun collector or simply someone who wants to make sure that our country fields the best athletes, we are sure you will enjoy the evening with Kim.  As she has been a spokesperson for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service on outdoor safety and conservation and has taught many young people how to use firearms properly and safely, this would be a perfect event for your kids or grandkids.
