Creekside Inn & Resort Opens Nature’s Cottages
Eco-friendly cottages designed with Russian River preservation and guest comfort in mind
Guerneville, Calif., September 1, 2007 – The Creekside Inn and Resort in Guerneville, known as a family-friendly nature venue in the Russian River resort area of Sonoma County, has opened twelve new eco-friendly Nature’s Cottages.
The cottages are located high in the redwood trees with views of the creek or pool yard. Double-panel, low e windows, and solar-energy are just some of the eco-friendly details. Furnished to fit their environment with generously sized cedar log furniture, the cottages are light and airy with private decks. The fully-equipped kitchen has a stove/oven/grill combination, a microwave oven, refrigerator with in-door ice and water, dishwasher and coffeemaker with Taylor Maid’s premium organic, fair-traded, shade-grown coffee. A dual-sided gas fireplace provides heat and romance to both the master bedroom with queen-size bed and the living area. Luxury extras include flat panel televisions with satellite service and HBO, CD, DVD and VCR players and clock radios. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the resort. Complimentary and accessible parking is available for each cottage.
“We have been employing ecologically-friendly sustainable practices for more than twenty-years. We are not recent to stewardship of the beautiful environment that surrounds us in California’s Russian River Valley, for us it is a way of life. Every year we look at how we can preserve and protect our natural resources. Woven into everything we do from solar energy to natural cleaning products to water conservation to native plants in the landscaping, we are making sure that the treasures of the Russian River Valley are available for generations to come,” says owner Lynn Crescione.
The beauty of the area and the importance of sustaining it for future generations were the inspiration for the ecologically sustainable Green practices considered throughout construction. Factory-built cottages were chosen because they are built efficiently and create less waste during the building process. The Building materials used are, According to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, longer lasting and have less impact on the environment because it does not warp or shrink, is fire resistant, doesn't require maintenance after initial staining and does not release the VOC emissions of traditional siding.
The resort worked with Circuit Rider Productions Ecological Services Division, CRP, to protect the Pocket Canyon creek on the property, remove harmful non-native plant vegetation and encourage the healthy growth of native plants in the area where the new cottages were constructed.
The new Nature’s Cottages add twelve rooms to the existing inn rooms and cottages. Throughout the resort only non-toxic cleaning and gardening products, renewable energy, reusable and recyclable guest amenities are used. The resort practices water conservation. All accommodations are equipped with water-saving bath fixtures and electricity-saving light fixtures. Biodegradable laundry detergents minimize environmental impacts.
For the health of all its guests, Creekside Inn and Resort is an entirely non-smoking resort
