DFG Announces Festive Archery Clinic for Teens and Youth

The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) and the California Bowmen Hunters/State Archery Association will host a fall archery clinic for young people who want to learn an outdoor skill, enjoy wildlife, and gain an understanding of how to become stewards of California's natural resources. Pre-registration is required and is open now.

"Shooting Pumpkins: Youth Archery Clinic" is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the El Dorado Hills Bowmen Archery Club. The class will include basic junior Olympic-style archery instruction, safety, and an outdoor-ethics presentation. "This unique experience of combining an outdoor skill with wildlife education is an opportunity to share important wildlife conservation and management messages with our youth," said Lesa Johnston, program coordinator.

A variety of pumpkin targets will be used for this clinic and there will be plenty of shooting time for all participants.  For added fun, there will also be a ghost, balloon-busting station.

A $15 fee includes lunch, equipment, and instruction. Youth must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents are included in the lunch at no additional charge.  Class size is limited to 30 and pre-registration is required.  Register on line at www.dfg.ca.gov/yo.
