MacDaddy's "Fishing For a Cure" Campaign to Benefit "Casting for Recovery," an International Breast Cancer Charity
Sales of Jewelry Company’s ‘World’s Most Precious Fishing Lure’™
Solid Platinum Pink Ribbon Jewelry Lure and Entire Pink Ribbon Line
Also To Benefit SLO County’s Enhancement, Inc. at Two Events in October
MacDaddy’s, the premiere manufacturer of precious metal and gemstone fishing lures and flies, announced that it has agreed to work with Casting For Recovery, a charity which uses fly-fishing camps throughout the United States, Canada, and Ireland to provide therapy to breast cancer survivors. In addition, the company will work actively with Enhancement, Inc., a health and wellness non-profit organization operating in San Luis Obispo County.
MacDaddy’s “Fishing for a Cure” breast cancer campaign will donate 10 percent of sales of its entire “Pink Ribbon Collection” line. In addition to the solid platinum lure with its ribbon design in pink sapphires, the Pink Ribbon Collection includes a line of copies to allow participation in the campaign by patrons at lesser price levels.
These include 14K gold lures with pink sapphires and sterling silver lures with pink cubic zirconia settings. Pricing for these versions is expected to begin as low as $59.95. Matching earrings are available for each level, and the hooks are removable to allow the lures to be worn solely as jewelry.
MacDaddy’s, which won awards and international publicity with its Million-Dollar Lure marketing campaign in 2006, introduced the new platinum jeweled Pink Ribbon decorative lures at the JCK Jewelry Show in Las Vegas in June. Ten percent of all Pink Ribbon proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research and recovery, according to Teri Conrad, president and CEO of MacDaddy’s Fishing Lures, Inc. “We founded MacDaddy’s with the intention of using it to benefit charitable causes by donating directly or through sponsorships of special events and fundraisers.”
Non-profit Casting For Recovery, whose executive director is Seline Skoug, operates no-cost retreats at camps in 25 states in the U.S., several locations in Canada, and has recently opened operations in Ireland. Some 36 retreats are scheduled in the U.S. this year, specifically for women who have or have had breast cancer.
Kate Fox, director of communications and development for the Manchester, Vermont-based organization, said more than 800 women are currently on waiting lists for retreats. She said that Casting for Recovery is committed to socioeconomic and cultural diversity. "We enhance the lives of breast cancer survivors by offering no-cost retreats tailored to promote and support mental and physical healing, shared experiences, and the hope that comes from learning new skills," Ms. Fox said, quoting the organization’s website. She can be reached at Kate.fox@castingforrecovery.org or at 1-888-553-3500.Website: www.castingforrecovery.org
On the local level, MacDaddy plans participation in two events with Enhancement, Inc., in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Oct. 12-14 at the Inn at Morro Bay, a Creative Healing Retreat for Breast Cancer Survivors is scheduled.
That event springs from the experiences of an artist who found healing through her art during treatment. These retreats provide guided access to a variety of art forms, from music to journaling and yoga, said Shoosh Crotzer, executive director of Enhancement, Inc.
On October 28, at Edna Valley Winery, a Benefit for Breast Cancer is scheduled from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Mac Daddy’s will introduce its Pink Ribbon Collection at that event, and individual pieces will be offered for sale.
